The core mission of TalentVantage is to match candidates with a job they love and to connect the most innovative companies in the world with top tech talent. Therefore, it is an essential part of our service to collect and process some of your personal information and to make this information available to other users. This Privacy Policy tells you how, when, and why TalentVantage collects, uses, processes, stores, transfers, and discloses your personal data that we may collect or observe.
This Notice sets out the essential details relating to the personal data that TalentVantage processes about you and applies to all our services and websites operated under the TalentVantage domain, including TalentVantageGroup.com and TalentVantage.co. The terms governing your use of the TalentVantage services are defined in our Terms and Conditions
By submitting information, including personal information, through TalentVantage, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Notice. You agree to TalentVantage collecting, processing, and using your personal data in accordance with this Notice and applicable laws, including South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act [POPIA], European Union law, the General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR], the California Consumer Privacy Act [CCPA], and Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais [LGPD].
If you do not agree, you should discontinue the use of the TalentVantage services immediately.
TalentVantage may change or update the provisions of this Privacy Notice at any time and will indicate when changes have been made by revising the date at the top of this Privacy Notice. We encourage you to review the Privacy Notice whenever you access TalentVantage services to ensure you understand our information collection, use, and disclosure practices. In this Notice, references to "personal information" will include references to "personal data" and vice versa.
2. SOURCES OF INFORMATION
TalentVantage collects personal information in a variety of contexts, each of which is defined below. The categories of information, types of information, sources of information, and our purposes for collecting, processing, using, and sharing such information are determined based on this context.
- Accessing and/or using TalentVantage Services: TalentVantage collects personal information through your use of products and services made available to you by us. This includes hardware, software (including software for mobile devices or “apps”), cloud data services, professional services, and support services. We receive your personal information when (and/or in relation to) you contact us; create an account; create a profile; join our talent community; upload your CV, resume, or cover letter; interact with us or other users. This includes your name, a contact person, a contact email address, company/employer name, location, number of employees, a contact phone number, profile picture, your job title, and any other information you choose to share with us.
- Websites: TalentVantage collects personal data through our websites, including, but not limited to, the website or subdomains of www.talentvantagegroup.com and www.talentvantage.co or any website that posts this policy.
- Social Media: TalentVantage collects personal information through your use of our social media pages and apps, through your interactions with third-party social media (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter), when you publicly post using related hashtags, and when you write a blog for us. If you contact or connect with TalentVantage, our employees, recruiters, or career advisors through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, or another social media platform, we may have access to the profile information associated with your social media platform account. We may also be able to access information contained in Cookies placed on the device used to access and use the applicable social media platform.
- Third-Party Sources: TalentVantage collects information from third-party sources such as publicly available databases, social media platforms, third-party providers of market research data, our affiliates, as well as business and joint marketing partners who share information with us.
- Interactions with Job Applicants: TalentVantage collects personal information when you apply for a job on our career site, join our talent community, interact with our third-party partners (such as LinkedIn) through whom we may post job openings, or provide information to our internal or external recruiters via email, social media, web forms, telephonically, or through any video streaming service (such as Zoom).
- Customer Sources: TalentVantage may collect personal data such as names, emails, phone numbers, profile pictures, and any other information when an employee of a customer sets up administrative accounts for their colleagues to use our services.
- Offline: When you interact in person with representatives from TalentVantage at a conference or event, when you place a telephonic order or contact customer service by phone, you may disclose, or we may observe or infer personal information about you that you did not directly state.
- Information others provide about you: We may also receive information from other users related to your use of TalentVantage services. This can include information about your ability to meet the obligations associated with a potential hiring arrangement.
- Market Research: TalentVantage collects personal information from third-party service providers for the purpose of market research, product research, targeted advertising, and business development.
- Device information: We collect information from and about the computers, mobile devices, and other web-connected devices that you use in connection with our services. This includes information such as the operating system, browser type, unique identifiers, device IDs and other identifiers, IP address, and other information you allow us to receive through device settings you turn on, such as access to your GPS location, camera, or photos.
- Cookie data: Data from Cookies stored on your device, including Cookie IDs and settings.
- Throughout your use of the TalentVantage service, we continuously collect personal data about your use of our services. This includes dates and times of any interview requests you make or receive; the number of interview requests you make or receive; interviews you have had and the outcomes of these interviews; offers and employment contracts you make or receive and the details of these offers and contracts; offers you withdraw, accept, or turn down and the related reasons; profiles you view; and your interactions with other TalentVantage users. This may also include details of your use of certain TalentVantage features.
- TalentVantage does not sell personal information collected in the defined contexts in which we do business.
3. CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
‘Personal Information' is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, to a natural person or household. This includes your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address, as well as less obvious information, which are included in the following defined categories. We plan to collect, and have collected within the preceding 12 months, the following categories of personal information:
- Individual Identifiers: This includes information like your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, birth date, login alias, online identifier, social media handles, IP address, profile pictures, or other information that identifies you regardless of your relationship to TalentVantage.
- Protected Classification Information: We may collect sensitive information protected under law, if you make such information publicly available such as in your publicly available social media accounts, through a resume submitted to us, or by attending a professional event associated with an affinity group. Any such information may be used by TalentVantage for research, statistical purposes, data analysis, creating marketing and promotion models, and improving and optimising the TalentVantage service. We use anonymised and aggregated information as far as reasonably possible.
- Employment Information: This includes information regarding your employment histories such as your current and past job titles, current and past employers, industries you worked in, roles and responsibilities, projects you worked on, memberships in professional associations, and any other relevant information. This may also include your work authorization status, skills, information relating to references, employment preferences, willingness to relocate, current salary, desired salary, language abilities, and any other information you elect to provide to us.
- Educational Information: This includes information about your educational history, such as the schools you have attended, the courses of study you followed, the status of any required continuing education for professional licensing, certifications you achieved, or any other relevant information relating to your education.
- Customer Records: This includes information such as your name, additional contact persons, email addresses, phone numbers, company name, company industry, company website, hiring location, number of employees, profile pictures, your job titles, account number, customer identifier, data relating to any previous circumvention or contravention of TalentVantage terms and conditions of use, and other information you choose to share with us as per the contract between us and your consent.
- Commercial Information: This includes information such as payment card data, financial account information, financial institution information, records of products or services purchased or considered, any other transaction histories or tendencies of the customer, and other information necessary to collect and process payment for products and services ordered by the customer.
- Electronic Network Information: This includes information like browsing history, search history, device data, internet, and network activity data collected through cookies, pixel tags and other technologies, and other information that is generated regarding your interaction with TalentVantage services and advertisements through your use of the internet or access to our websites.
- Geolocation Data: This includes information such as your mailing address, billing address, as well as your precise location if you have such geolocation data enabled when using the applicable social media application at a TalentVantage event.
- Visual, audio, olfactory, electronic, or similar data: This includes information regarding physical characteristics or photos you choose to share, audio or video recordings such as recorded telephone or video calls, or simply observable during personal interactions in either an online or offline context.
- Inferences: This includes other information about an individual’s anticipated or assumed actions or behaviours that is inferred from the foregoing categories, or simply observable during personal interactions in either an online or offline context.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION COLLECT
We use your personal information in connection with providing you with the TalentVantage services and product features you requested, signed up for, applied for, or created an account for. Here are some examples of how we use your information:
- To provide, develop, and enhance our services.
- To provide and deliver the products and services you request, process transactions, and to send you related information including confirmations and invoices.
- To respond to feedback and monitor the security of our services.
- To provide you with promotional communications, materials, and other third-party information that you may find interesting.
- To enforce our terms or rights under any agreement between you and TalentVantage.
- To perform any other action deemed necessary by TalentVantage in its provision of our services, interactions with you, or any other third party.
We may also store information locally on your device such as in your local cache. TalentVantage reserves the right to review any information to help resolve problems with our services or to ensure compliance with our terms of service.
5. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
Personal data that will always be publicly available:
- Content Data - To publish legitimate content online and give credit where it is due when you write a blog for us, we will publish your name, profile picture, social media handles, biography, profile picture, and other information you choose to share with the public.
Personal data that may be shared to provide our services:
- Candidate Data - To provide the TalentVantage service, we will need to share your personal data from your TalentVantage profile with employers holding a TalentVantage customer account. We will only share the minimum amount of data needed, anonymised where possible, to provide our service. Each TalentVantage customer account holder will act as a data controller in relation to the personal data they receive from TalentVantage, and their own privacy policy will govern their use of your personal data.
- Employer Data - To provide the TalentVantage service, we will need to share your personal data from your TalentVantage customer account with the TalentVantage candidate pool identified. We will only share the minimum amount of data required to provide or improve the services of TalentVantage.
- Personal data that may be shared with others:
- With Third Parties: To provide additional products, services, or value for our candidates, customers, or partners, we may share your personal data with our third-party partners with your consent. We may also share your personal information with vendors and service providers who aid with billing, payment processing, marketing, data analytics support, and service associated with our services, including any provision of goods through our services. Each partner will act as a data controller in relation to the personal data that we supply to them, and their own privacy policy will govern their use of your personal data.
- With Service Providers: We also use technical and non-technical third-party service providers which may provide the technical infrastructure to host, store, manage, and maintain TalentVantage applications, content, and the data we process to help us communicate with you and deliver the TalentVantage services. Each service provider will act as a data controller in relation to the personal data that we supply to them, and their own privacy policy will govern their use of your personal data.
- With Business Partners and Affiliates: We may share your personal information with our channel partners, subsidiaries, affiliates, joint ventures, or any other company, to fulfill obligations and requests, to deliver support, and to provide users and our customers’ users with information about TalentVantage or its affiliates. TalentVantage does not control how a business partner may use your personal information. Each business partner and affiliate will act as a data controller in relation to the personal data that we supply to them, and their own privacy policy will govern their use of your personal data.
- With Other TalentVantage Service Users: As an essential element of our service, most of the information you provide to us when you register or update your profile is displayed on your profile and intended to be shared with other users, including your CV, profile photo, contact details, and other content. We may display this content through our services. Once displayed on publicly viewable web pages, that information can be collected and used by others. We cannot control who reads your postings or what other users may do with the information that you voluntarily post, so it is very important that you do not put any sensitive, confidential, or any other information you do not wish to be shared in your posts. Once you have posted information publicly, while you will still be able to edit and delete it on the TalentVantage service, you will not be able to edit or delete such information cached, collected, and stored elsewhere by others.
- For Compliance with Laws and Other Legitimate Business Purposes: We may share your personal information when we believe, in good faith, (i) disclosure is necessary or required by law; (ii) needed to meet legitimate business purposes associated with corporate restructuring, change of control, merger or acquisition; (iii) to the safety of any person, or to prevent death or imminent bodily harm, (iv) to protect the integrity of our service, and/or (v) to defend or exercise our legal rights in response to valid legal process, a search warrant, a court order, or a subpoena. We may also disclose your personal information when it may be necessary for other legitimate purposes as reasonably determined by TalentVantage.
- Purchasers of our business: We may need to share some of your personal data in those cases where we sell or negotiate to sell our business to a buyer or prospective buyer. In this situation, TalentVantage will continue to ensure the confidentiality of your personal data, anonymise your personal data where possible and give you notice before your personal data is transferred to the buyer or becomes subject to a different Privacy Notice.
6. RETENTION, MODIFICATION, OR DELETION OF YOUR INFORMATION
TalentVantage will retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with TalentVantage services. We will also retain personal data for legitimate and essential business purposes such as making data-driven business decisions about new features and offerings, complying with our legal obligations, and resolving disputes. We don’t automatically delete inactive user accounts. Unless you choose to delete your account, we will retain your personal information indefinitely or for as long as allowable by law, whichever comes first.
If you request, we will delete or anonymise your personal data so that it no longer identifies you. When we delete any information, it will be deleted from the active database, but may remain in our archives. After an account has been deleted, certain data, such as messages to other users and comments, will remain. We may retain and use your information as necessary where we are legally allowed or required to in compliance with our legal obligations before any such deletion, including situations such as the following:
- If there is an unresolved issue or dispute relating to your Account or Profile, we will retain the necessary personal data until the issue is resolved.
- To comply with our legal, tax, audit, and accounting obligations, we will retain the necessary personal data for the period required by applicable law.
- To protect our legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention or to maintain the legitimacy of the TalentVantage service.
7. CROSS-BORDER TRANSFER
An integral part of the TalentVantage service is to connect candidates and clients globally for remote working opportunities. Therefore, your personal information may be shared, stored, and processed in any county in which we engage service providers, candidates, employers, or third parties. By using the TalentVantage platform you understand that your information will be transferred to countries outside your country of residence, located in other continents or economic regions. Personal information and data privacy protection laws in these countries may differ significantly from those applicable to your home country. In certain circumstances, courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory agencies, or security authorities in those other countries may be entitled to access your personal information.
Some of the non-EEA countries are recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection according to EEA. For transfers from the EEA to countries not considered adequate by the European Commission, TalentVantage ensures that Standard Contractual Clauses, as set out in this Notice, are agreed upon with these parties to ensure, as far as reasonably possible, the protection of your personal data.
8. INTERNATIONAL USERS
8.1. UNITED KINGDOM (UK):
Users in the UK have the right to ask us to amend or limit the processing of their personal information for marketing purposes. You can exercise your rights to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes to opt-out on the forms TalentVantage uses to collect your personal information, or by selecting the unsubscribe function on emails. You can also exercise the right at any time by contacting us via our mail address or email us via our regular email address.
8.2. EUROPEAN UNION (EU):
EU residents have additional privacy rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws. If you would like to exercise any of the below rights, please contact us using our mail address so that we may consider your request in accordance with applicable law:
- Right to Access: You have the right to be informed of and request access to your personal data we collect, process, and maintain about you.
- Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we amend, correct, or update your personal data if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your personal data. Note, however, we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons of which you will be notified, if applicable, at the time of your request.
- Right to Restriction: You have the right to request that we temporarily or permanently stop processing all or some of your personal data, or to stop sending you marketing communications.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you.
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request a copy of your personal data in electronic format and the right to transmit that personal data to another party.
8.3. CALIFORNIA:
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act [CCPA], residents of California have the right to request from a business with whom they have an established business relationship, certain information regarding personal data shared with third parties for direct marketing purposes and the identities of said third parties during the immediately preceding calendar year. To request a copy of the information disclosure provided by us pursuant to Section 1798.83 of the California Civil Code, you must contact us via e-mail or regular mail address specified in our contact information with “California Privacy Request” in the subject line. Please note that under this law, we are not required to respond to your request more than once in a calendar year, nor are we required to respond to any request that is not sent to the designated e-mail or mailing address.
California Consumer Privacy Act [CCPA]: Pursuant to the California Consumer Protection Act, the following additional disclosures and consumer rights, updated, on an annual basis, apply to California residents who access or use Services:
- Do Not Track: Do Not Track is a privacy preference that some users may set in their web browsers where the browser sends a message to websites requesting them not to track the user. At this time, we may not recognize or respond to Do Not Track browser settings or signals and we may still receive and collect information about your internet activity, even if you have turned on the Do Not Track signal.
- Personal Information Collected: The categories of personal information collected by us in the preceding 12 months are described in Section 3 of the Privacy Notice.
- Sources of the Personal Information: The sources of personal information collected by us in the preceding 12 months are described in Section 2 of the Privacy Notice.
- Purpose of Personal Information Collected: The purpose and legitimate basis for the collection of personal information by category by us in the preceding 12 months are described in Section 4 of the Privacy Notice.
- Sharing Your Personal Information: How we shared your personal information within the preceding 12 months is described in Section 5 of the Privacy Notice.
- Consumer Rights: Subject to verification of your identity and other information that we may need, all Californian consumers have the following rights:
- Right to Erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your personal data. Note, however, we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons of which you will be notified, if applicable, at the time of your request.
- Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell your personal information.
- Right to Know: You have the right to know whom we sell or disclosure your personal information to, however, WE DO NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.
- Right Against Consumer Discrimination: You have the right to not be discriminated against as a consumer by (a) denial of services; (b) paying more for services; (c) receiving lesser quality services.
- Right to Access: You have the right to be informed of and request access to your personal data we collect, process, and maintain about you.
8.4. SOUTH AFRICA (SA):
If you reside in South Africa, we may collect your personal information shared with us by you, third parties, or that is publicly available via social media or other public forums and channels such as job boards for example. Most of our information collection and processing activities are typically based on (i) contractual necessity, (ii) one or more legitimate interests of TalentVantage or a third party permitted by POPIA that are not overridden by your data protection interests, or (iii) your consent. Sometimes, we may be legally required to collect your information or may need your personal information to protect your legitimate interests.
Protection of Personal Information Act [POPIA]: The following additional disclosures and consumer rights apply to SA residents whose data we collect, and who may access or use TalentVantage services:
- Personal Information Collected: The categories of personal information collected by us are described in Section 3 of the Privacy Notice.
- Sources of Personal Information: The sources of personal information collected by us are described in Section 2 of the Privacy Notice.
- Purpose of Personal Information Collected: The purpose and legitimate basis for the collection of personal information by category by us are described in Section 4 of the Privacy Notice.
- Sharing Your Personal Information: How we shared your personal information is described in Section 5 of the Privacy Notice.
- Consumer Rights: Subject to verification of your identity and other information that we may need, all SA residents have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You have the right to be informed of and request access to your personal data we collect, process, and maintain about you.

8.5. BRAZIL:
Brazilian citizens, no matter where they reside in accordance with the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais [LGPD] data protection laws, have the right to know how and where personal data is collected and whom we share it with. We may collect your personal information shared with us by you, or that is publicly available via social media or other public forums and channels such as job boards for example. 9. A NOTE ABOUT SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION
TalentVantage does not intentionally collect protected or special personal information such as religion, race, ethnicity, trade union membership, political views, health status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, genetic or biometric data, veteran status, or social security numbers. The circumstances in which we may collect may or utilise sensitive information protected under law as described in Section 3 of the Privacy Notice.
10. A NOTE ABOUT CHILDREN
The aim of the TalentVantage service is to source, recruit, and place information technology professionals with a tertiary qualification to qualified companies and employers. Our service is not directed to children or persons under the age of eighteen (18). Thus, we do not knowingly gather personal information from individuals who are under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, please do not use the TalentVantage service, and do not provide any personal data to us.
If we learn that we have collected the personal data of a child under the age of 18 years, we will take reasonable steps to delete the personal data. If you believe that we might have any personal information from a child under eighteen (18), please contact us immediately.
11. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The TalentVantage platform may contain links to third-party websites and services for your convenience. We may also display advertisements from third parties and other content that links to third-party websites. When you click on a link to any other website you will leave our services and another entity may collect data from you. TalentVantage is not responsible for the privacy, information, or other practices of third parties, including any third party operating any website or service to which the TalentVantage platform links, or for the content of other websites. The inclusion of a link on our platform does not imply endorsement of the linked site or service by us or by our subsidiaries. We do not recommend, screen, review, or have any control over the actions taken by these third parties. Your use of these services is solely your choice and decision. Please review every third-party website or service you visit or interact with through the TalentVantage platform.
12. FEEDBACK
We may publish any feedback we receive from you on the service from time to time. If you make any comments on a blog or forum associated with TalentVantage, you should be aware that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy and that any personal information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information You choose to submit in these blogs and forums.
13. EMAIL COMMUNICATION
We may send you emails, including marketing, promotional, and third-party related communications. You may opt-out of these emails at any time by unsubscribing. Note that you may need to opt-out from each TalentVantage service individually. Despite your election, we may still be required to send you service-related communications, including any updates to our terms of service or this privacy notice.
14. SECURITY
We are committed to protecting your personal data. TalentVantage uses reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect to help protect the security of your personal data. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, while TalentVantage uses reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal information, TalentVantage cannot guarantee its absolute security.
